The interiors of the two HOWO 20,000L (20 cubic meter) heavy-duty fuel tanks are strictly partitioned into independent compartments in accordance with international safety standards. Each compartment is fitted with heavy-duty, double-curvature surge baffles, the design of which has been optimized through Finite Element Analysis (FEA). These baffles effectively dissipate the kinetic energy of liquid surges during emergency braking or when the vehicle traverses uneven terrain, thereby maintaining the overall longitudinal and lateral stability of the vehicle.

The tank body is constructed from high-quality Q345B high-tensile, low-alloy steel plates, formed in a single pass using a fully automated CNC plate-rolling machine. All butt welds throughout the vehicle undergo rigorous non-destructive X-ray testing, as well as hydrostatic pressure retention testing at up to 100 kPa, ensuring that the tank's overall structure possesses an exceptionally high fatigue life limit under conditions of alternating stress and vibration.

These two 20,000-liter fuel tankers feature an integrated, advanced safety control valve assembly within their upper piping and valve box systems:

Pneumatic Emergency Shut-off Valves (Foot Valves): Each independent tank compartment is equipped as standard with a pneumatic emergency shut-off valve located at the tank bottom. In the event that the vehicle encounters a severe collision or a pipeline rupture during road transport, the pneumatic control system automatically closes the bottom valves within milliseconds, effectively sealing the fuel inside the tank and eliminating the risk of secondary fires.

Independent Gravity Discharge System: The vehicles come standard with heavy-duty, European-standard explosion-proof manhole covers—constructed from thickened aluminum alloy or stainless steel—which feature integrated pressure-vacuum relief valves and overflow sensing ports. They are also equipped with a dedicated explosion-proof valve tool kit. The multi-channel, large-bore gravity discharge pipelines operate independently of one another, thereby minimizing loading and unloading turnaround times at local fuel depots in Libya.
